Creating Standards: Building a Diverse and Inclusive Workplace
OUR CLIENT'S ISSUE
A global financial information company with over 6,000
employees faced pressure from its parent company to lead and create a model for an otherwise
anemic diversity and inclusion effort. The organization had not embraced or adopted a business case for
moving a diversity effort forward; therefore, few minority and non-U.S. nationals were represented in the
leadership levels of the organization. This presented quite a challenge given a tightening and more diverse labor pool
and a stated organizational goal of increasing innovation in the development of products and services.
OUR APPROACH
- Created a three-year diversity and inclusion strategy
- Launched and supported a senior-level Diversity Steering Council
- Facilitated the creation of a business case for diversity and inclusion within the organization
- Conducted a qualitative workplace climate assessment consisting of focus groups/interviews
- Conducted awareness raising education for leaders, managers and employees
- Developed and delivered a cross-cultural, competency-building program for managers
THE BUSINESS BENEFITS
- Identified key issues to drive strategy and deliverables
- Diversity and inclusion emphasized as an important business practice through an effective and
compelling business case
- The organization now understands the impact of an increasingly global workforce
- There is increased representation of minority and non-U.S. nationals
