Adam What attracted you to Capital H when considering your career options?

Capital H Group offered a chance to return to consulting, which was something that interested me at the time because I had always enjoyed the challenges and variety of the work. Also, Capital H Group was particularly attractive as a young firm (less than one year old when I joined) that had a flat organizational structure, which allowed me to develop professionally at an accelerated pace.

How would you describe a "day in the life" of a consultant at Capital H Group?

The "day in the life" of a consultant involves prioritizing the demands on your time in order to effectively deliver the best value to our clients. Consultants can serve as individual contributors, as project managers, or as subject matter experts on several projects at one time. Properly balancing the needs of each client with my own schedule, as well as other project team members, allows me to work effectively with my clients on problem solving and provide actionable recommendations.

How does Capital H support you in your professional development?

The environment in which we work here at Capital H Group is the biggest support to my professional development. Each project provides a forum for discussion based upon the client situation and need, and senior consultants make themselves available to discuss issues and solve problems. Access to this type of knowledge base across a variety of areas of expertise has really expanded my skill set in human capital management as well as other service areas. Additionally, Capital H Group provides a self-driven development situation, which allows me the flexibility to improve my professional skills at a pace that fits an aggressive schedule.

Describe your frequency and degree of interaction with clients?

I am constantly interacting with clients, and have been since the first few weeks of joining Capital H Group. Our client sponsors are often senior leadership within the company, so I have been able to develop relationships with my clients that allow me to provide recommendations that are trusted and respected. I believe the degree of interaction with my clients has been accelerated compared to typical consulting firms that are more hierarchical in nature, and I believe my professional development has benefited accordingly.

What do you enjoy most about working at Capital H?

I really enjoy the collaborative atmosphere and working with extremely intelligent people at Capital H Group. Many projects have allowed us to create innovative solutions to client problems because people are open to ideas and encourage dialogue across all levels of the organization. This creates a dynamic and exciting environment where the knowledge that each consultant's opinion can be heard, and provides perspective on delivering real value to our clients.

How do you see Capital H Group progressing as a firm?

I see Capital H Group continuing to grow to become a market leader in providing solutions to issues in human capital management. As labor markets continue to shift from manual to intellectual capital, I believe that Capital H Group will remain influential in the marketplace. We will provide our clients with a clear understanding of how to find the best talent, optimize the effectiveness of their talent, and recognize and reward high performance. This will add value to the clients while strengthening Capital H Group's reputation as a market leader.

Amy What attracted you to Capital H when considering your career options?

I was attracted to Capital H Group for several reasons. First, I was excited by the enthusiasm the founders had about the business. I heard great things about Dan, Greg and Keith from people who worked for them in the past. I also saw an opportunity to really contribute to the growth of Capital H Group. Lastly, I was so impressed by all of the people I met when I was interviewing, and wanted to be a part of an organization that attracted such phenomenal talent.

Describe your role in firm development?

I feel very involved in the growth and development of the firm. In my role, I help interview consultants, principals and client relationship managers for many of our new offices. This has allowed me to get to know our different markets and my colleagues in those locations. I've then been able to engage the right subject matter expert for a given opportunity I might have in my market. I have also been asked to speak with other client relationship managers and share my experiences and what has worked for me so that they can get up to speed more quickly. It has been very rewarding to see the firm grow and feel a part of it.

What do you enjoy most about working at Capital H?

I enjoy the diversity of experiences, the people I work with and the work we do. It's also very rewarding to develop solutions for clients that really make an impact on their business. I feel like we've attracted clients who are excited about what we're doing in the market and want to be part of our growth.

How do you see Capital H Group progressing as a firm?

It has been fascinating seeing the growth over the past 3 years and how well it has been managed. I am amazed at all of the new capabilities we've developed over time and the people we have been able to attract. I see that continuing, and the firm providing even more development for its employees who want to broaden their experiences. I believe my opportunities are unlimited.

Describe a typical day

There is no typical day at Capital H Group and that's what makes each day interesting. What has been appealing to me is when I meet with clients and then come back and brainstorm with my colleagues about different ways to solve a client's problem. I find our solutions very client-focused and customized. Every day seems to present a new opportunity. Everybody enjoys that kind of challenge at Capital H and everyone rolls up their sleeves to get things done.

Kalpana What attracted you to Capital H when considering your career options?

I was attracted to Capital H for several reasons. First and foremost, the broad service offerings of the firm would allow me the opportunity to learn and develop my consulting skills in areas that complement my current expertise. Second, the entrepreneurial and innovative culture provides a healthy work environment where individuals could pursue the work they enjoy and still maintain a balanced personal lifestyle.

How would you describe a "day in the life" of the consultant at Capital H Group?

When I think about a "day in the life" of a consultant at Capital H Group, flexibility, novelty, and opportunity come to mind. No day is ever the same and that keeps my work experience here fresh and exciting.

Describe the nature of your work and interaction with clients?

I play several roles in working with our clients. I support the client relationship managers in identifying follow-on projects with current clients and initial projects with new clients. From a delivery standpoint, I develop potential solutions for clients, manage projects, and implement projects. Ultimately, in all of these roles, the goal is to engage seamlessly with our clients and serve as a knowledgeable, trusted advisor.

What do you enjoy most about working at Capital H?

Working with the group of talented, collegial people within my office. I enjoy the strength of relationships and being able to tap into the vast knowledge base of individuals across the firm.

How do you see Capital H Group progressing as a firm?

I see Capital H Group as progressing to provide customized solutions that leverage the best of people, processes, and technology in driving business objectives for our clients. Several firms focus on one aspect, but by focusing on all three, we are clearly differentiating ourselves from the competition.
