A large, global beverage company was undergoing a large-scale cultural change. A recent de-centralization of the recruiting process from corporate to line operations had resulted in:
- Slower than desired time to fill critical open jobs, particularly specialized engineering and management positions
- The loss of talented candidates to competitors
- Inconsistent and conflicting job documentation
- A lack of consistency among HR generalists at the line level

THE CAPITAL H APPROACH
Capital H Group was originally engaged by the client three years ago to design and implement a new process to source better candidates. Our first step was to perform a brief diagnostic that highlighted and quantified the business issues related to recruiting. Over the course of the project, our team:
- Worked to make job documentation consistent, relevant and easier to use
- Quantified the benefit of a more effective recruiting process
- Redesigned the recruiting process from sourcing through hiring in collaboration with the client
- Trained HR and line managers in effective recruiting strategies and tactics
- Helped the corporate recruiting staff to better serve HR and line managers
- During the last two years, our role as partners with the client's internal recruiting function has greatly expanded. We now provide support to six plants around the US and also recruit for several other divisions. Our "full-cycle" approach currently includes spearheading the entire recruitment process from conception (reviewing job descriptions, posting them, contacting hiring managers) to completion (sourcing candidates, interviewing candidates, presenting candidates, making recommendations, helping with others). We also develop and coordinate the following for our client:
- Job fairs
- College recruiting efforts
- Searches through specialized job boards, such as those managed by trade and industry associations as well as minority organizations

- We have helped the client achieve the following results:
- Due to economies of scale, the client's per hire costs are currently approximately one-tenth of what it would cost to fill those positions through executive search
